Publishing in Tana View

This tutorial shows you how to publish a node from your workspace as an interactive web page that anyone can view and navigate without a Tana account.
Feature: Tana Publish

You will learn

  • How to use the publish preview to see exactly what viewers will experience
  • How to control which references are visible to viewers
  • How to review and share your published page

1. Select node to publish

Navigate to the content you want to share in your workspace. This node and everything beneath it becomes your published view.

With Tana View you can share your content exactly as it appears in Tana. Viewers can explore without needing a Tana account.

Client project list ready to publish.

2. Open the publish preview

Right-click the node, the select Publish -> Open publish preview, or use the command line: Cmd+K -> Publish (open preview).

The preview shows a live, updating version of what viewers will see. Changes in your workspace appear instantly in the preview.

Access publish preview from right-click menu.

3. Review and control what's visible

The preview shows exactly what viewers will see. References to content outside your published node appear as locked items by default (showing only titles).

Click Make all content visible at the top to include all referenced items at once.

After making content visible, you can navigate into each item to review how viewers will see it:

  • Click into items to explore their content
  • Check if everything looks as expected
  • If you find more locked references inside, decide whether to make those visible too
  • Use breadcrumbs to navigate back and review other items
  • Simply click the hide button on a reference that you have made visible to hide it's content again

4. Publish your view

Make any adjustments to your content in Tana and the preview updates live as you work. Once you're satisfied with what's visible in the preview, click the blue Publish button at the bottom.

  • Your link is automatically copied
  • Your content is now live
  • Anyone with the link can access it
Click Publish button when content is ready.

Success! You've published your Tana View.

Your published page:

  • Looks exactly like your workspace
  • Allows viewers to navigate and explore interactively
  • Keeps all content read-only and safe from changes
  • Works without requiring viewers to sign in
