What's new in Tana: Every new feature you might have missed from 2024
New Mobile Apps for iOS and Android
The Tana mobile app for iOS and Android lets you quickly capture ideas and access your workspace wherever you are. Access and edit all your notes, search for specific notes, walk and work with auto-transcribed voice memos and auto-filled fields.
- Voice Memos: Record thoughts out loud, tag them, and Tana transcribes and structures your notes automatically.
- Tag on the Fly: Capture to any Supertag or workspace location while on the move.
- Mobile Editing: You can now edit any existing content from your phone - enable "Early access" in the "Manage" tab in the app.
Live Transcription (desktop)
There are several ways to start real-time transcription in Tana:
- Type / (slash) on an empty node, and choose "Live transcription" from the menu. The transcript will be shown below a new node where you can set a title.
- Create new button in sidebar > Start live transcription: Transcribes into the new node you created. New nodes like this are created on your Today page.
- Audio-enabled fields: Enables an audio button on the field. Pressing it triggers live transcription, with the transcript stored into the field. Set this up in field configuration.
AI Chat: Select the model you prefer
- Multi-Model Support: Experiment with different models from leading providers like OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.
- Integrated AI Chat: Hit space below any note anywhere and use AI to generate content, ideas, or answers about that note. Read more.
- Custom AI Commands: Build reusable workflows and attach them to Supertags as buttons. Read more.
- Edit and tag AI responses: Tana’s AI chat lets you tag sections of text directly in the chat, or edit text before you add it to your notes.
Meetings made easy
Tana integrates seamlessly with Google Calendar (support for other providers like Outlook is on the way), importing your meetings into Tana every day and notifying you when a meeting is about to start. One click is all it takes to both open the meeting in Tana and join the meeting link!
- View your day’s events directly in your Daily Notes.
- Click into an event to take notes or add the meeting agent
- Contacts are automatically imported and tagged as #person
- Get desktop notifications when meetings start (requires Tana Desktop app)
- One-click to open Tana and join the meeting
Record and summarize meetings
The Tana meeting agent will request to join your meeting – then send the information, transcript, and action items back to Tana, so you don’t miss a beat, and can easily retrieve anything that mattered from the meeting.
- Add meeting agents to any meeting you have in Tana
- The agent will automatically make a meeting summary
- Action items will be suggested, so you can easily tag them for follow-up

- On daily notes, see open tasks or anything else you define (goals, habits, projects).
- Choose position on the right side or below note content
- Add custom related content to any Supertag or note by creating saved searches, right-click and then select "Move search to related content".
Progress bars and checkboxes
Tana makes task tracking visual and intuitive:
- Add checkboxes (with Ctrl/Cmd+Enter) to create tasks.
- Notes with checkboxes below now show automatic progress bars based on completed items.
- Use shortcuts (cmd+Enter or ctrl+Enter) to convert multiple notes into tasks instantly.
- Nest multiple progress bars to track sub-projects/tasks below a main task.
Visual Upgrades: Icons, Headings, and Highlighting
- Headings: Use !, slash menu or right-click to enable headings
- Page Icons: Replace bullets with custom icons, or set default icons per supertag.
- Header Images: Add personality to pages with uploaded or AI-generated visuals.
- Inline Highlighting: Select any text to format it and visually emphasize important points.
Side Menu and Tabs View: Build Your Perfect Workspace
- Use Tabs to work like a browser, switching between notes or filtered views.
- Add Side Views for dashboards, indexes, or project overviews.
- Combine both for a fully personalized, high-efficiency interface.
