Tana notices the meetings you didn't schedule

NewTana spots your external meetings and offers to capture them. Tana now notices when you are in a meeting held somewhere else and offers to capture it, without you starting anything. It listens for meeting-like activity from your microphone and speakers, so it covers calls in the apps it recognizes (Slack, Chrome, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Discord, or a generic browser or call), and it works even when the meeting is on nobody's calendar. A "Meeting in progress" card appears with "Capture Meeting" and "Dismiss". A meeting in a browser tab only prompts when your camera is on too, so music and unrelated tabs stay quiet. Dismissing or stopping a capture stops Tana asking about that meeting again. It is on by default on the desktop app, not Linux, and you can switch it off under "Detect external meetings" in Settings, Preferences.
NewMeeting links are meet.tana.inc plus a short code. Tana meetings now have a short, memorable link: meet.tana.inc followed by a short code, with nothing else in the path. Calendar invites carry it, and copying a link from a meeting gives you that form rather than a long URL with your organization and event ids in it. It is short enough to read out on a call or type from a phone. Longer links you already have saved keep working.
NewAttribute columns, filters, and Display menu on typed entries. A type's declared fields now render as columns in its entries table and its workflow board. Member fields render as avatar chips, Link fields render referenced titles, Date and Text fields flatten to text. A pill bar next to the search field filters the list by field value: a people picker for Member fields, a typeahead picker for Link fields (constrained to the field's target types), and a range picker for Date fields. A "Display" dropdown next to the search field toggles individual columns. Active filters live in the URL, so a filtered view is shareable and returning to the panel after opening an entry restores what was filtered. Filter writes replace the history entry rather than stacking, so Back leaves the panel instead of unwinding each tweak.
NewMention @tana in any Slack thread. Bring Tana into a Slack conversation by mentioning @tana in a thread. It replies in place, keeps a running chat for that thread, and can read earlier messages and shared files, so you can drop in a screenshot or doc and ask follow-up questions. It only sees what each person in the thread can see. If your Slack email doesn't match a Tana account, it replies with a link to pair the two so future mentions resolve to you.
NewA daily brief in your Slack DMs. Ask the AI for a daily brief and it gathers today's meetings and what needs preparing, the people and companies you are meeting for the first time, and your open tasks, follow-ups, and scheduling conflicts, then sends it to you as a Slack direct message.
NewDocuments you present show up in the meeting timeline. When someone presents a Tana document during a meeting, the digest timeline now records it in place, so reading back through a meeting shows which document was on the table at which point in the conversation, alongside the notes and decisions from that stretch.
NewAn organization logo. Admins can upload a logo for the organization under Settings. It replaces the generated initials wherever the organization appears, including the account menu in the sidebar, so people who belong to more than one can tell them apart at a glance.
ImprovedScreen shares and raised hands stand out during a call. A screen share gets its own featured region on the call stage, sized to the feed, and clicking it enlarges the feed. Anyone who raises a hand is pulled to the front of the tiles. Guests see the same stage as everyone else.
ImprovedOne click to open and start capturing an external meeting. The pre-call event card's main button now reads "Open & Capture" for an external meeting with a join link. One click starts recording and opens the meeting link together, so a blocked pop-up never leaves you sitting in an un-recorded meeting. A meeting with no join link still shows "Capture Meeting".
ImprovedSearch opens as a proper window, not a corner popup. Search, from the sidebar or with Cmd+P on macOS or Ctrl+P on Windows and Linux, now opens as a centered dialog wide enough to show results as a table, instead of a small popup anchored to the sidebar. On touch devices and narrow screens it still opens as a bottom sheet.
ImprovedOpen any item in a new tab, side panel, or window. Right-click most items, including meeting tiles, pinned docs, accepted outcomes, and item lists, for "Open in new tab". The desktop app adds "Open in side panel" for its split view and "Open in new window" for a detached one. Cmd-click on macOS or Ctrl-click on Windows and Linux opens a new tab, adding Shift opens a new window, and adding Alt opens a side panel, so you can work across several items at once.
ImprovedAgent schedules are open to everyone. Anyone can add a recurring schedule to an agent, including ones shared with you. Schedules are private, so you only see and manage the ones you created. A schedule's opening message is optional too; leave it blank and the run starts with a standard message instead.
ImprovedAsk the AI to find one of your own agents. Search, and the AI's own search tool, can now find your custom agents by name or purpose, like "find the agent that does customer research", so you don't need to remember exactly where you put it. Built-in agents stay out of the results unless you ask for them by name.
ImprovedJump straight to a numbered tab. In the desktop app, Cmd+1 through Cmd+8 on macOS, or Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+8 on Windows and Linux, jumps straight to that numbered tab. Cmd+9 or Ctrl+9 jumps to the last one.
ImprovedAI search can filter by field value. Ask the AI for "Outcomes in Product area Billing" or "Bugs reported this month" and it can resolve the field constraint in a single scoped search instead of listing every candidate and narrowing them one by one. This applies to typed entries with Member, Link, or Date fields, and to both same-chat proposals you're mid-editing and committed items across the workspace.
ImprovedMessages Tana sends to Slack arrive formatted. When the AI or one of your agents sends a message to Slack, it now arrives with real formatting: links, bold, italics, strikethrough, headings rendered as bold, bullets, and code. Links to Tana documents arrive as links your teammates can click rather than text they cannot open. This matters most for agents on a schedule, whose output lands in Slack without anyone there to tidy it up.
ImprovedChange a member's role after inviting them. In Settings, Members, an admin can switch anyone between Member and Admin from the dropdown next to their name, so a teammate who needs admin rights no longer has to be re-invited. Your own row and the organization owner cannot be changed or removed.
ImprovedOpen the meeting from the capture window. Click the title on the always-on-top capture window to jump to the meeting it is recording, so you can see what is being captured without hunting for the meeting in Tana.
ImprovedThe desktop app dims when it is not in front. The sidebar and panel toolbars recede while the desktop window is not the one you are working in, and come back to full strength when you return to it, so a Tana window behind another app reads as inactive the way native windows do.
ImprovedThe call shows only the people in it. The in-call header no longer carries a count of invited people who have not joined, or a popover listing them. Anyone who has not joined is on the meeting card's attendee roster instead, which leaves the call itself given over to whoever is actually there. After the call, the participants popover still groups everyone as In Call, Was in Call, and Never joined.
ImprovedMCP tool calls read as names, not identifiers. When the AI uses a tool from one of your connected MCP servers, the progress line in chat now names the server and the tool, for example "Completed Acme: product_search", instead of the raw identifier the model sees. Where the server cannot be resolved, such as a shared chat you do not own, it reads "MCP" in place of the name.
ImprovedA /tana event is named after the conversation it came from. Sending /tana in Slack with no text used to create an event called "Quick Event" every time. It is now named after where it came from: the people in a direct message, or the channel it belongs to.
ImprovedThe AI can find people in your GitHub organization. With GitHub connected, the AI can list your organization's members and their roles, list who has access to a repository and at what level, and match a person in Tana to their GitHub account. Useful for asking who owns a repository, or who to assign something to.
ImprovedScreen captures live in the digest. Screenshots taken from a shared screen used to sit inside the transcript. They appear in the digest now, next to the discussion they belong to, so you can scan what was shared without reading the transcript.
ImprovedThe digest says when it is just early. Early in a meeting, before there is anything to summarise, the compact digest showed an empty box. It now says that notes appear as the conversation gets going.
FixedAttaching a skill to a message runs it right away. Attaching a skill with a slash and sending it now runs the skill, using whatever you typed as its input, or the skill's own defaults if you left the message blank. It used to answer by asking what you wanted done with the skill, and only ran once you said so. Text that is clearly an instruction about the skill itself, like asking to edit or explain it, is still treated that way.
FixedMeeting invites no longer freeze the invite picker. Adding people to a meeting from the invite picker could occasionally freeze the whole surface for organizers with synced calendars. Fixed.
FixedPresenter names stay readable over any shared screen. The presenter's name label in a call now keeps a solid background behind the text, so it stays legible over any shared screen or camera content.
FixedThe cursor stays put while you rename something. Typing in a title, on a doc, chat, agent, skill or typed item, no longer jumps the cursor to the end of the text mid-edit, so you can correct something in the middle of a name without it rearranging under you.
FixedLarge PDF attachments work in chat. Attaching a large PDF to a chat no longer fails partway through, so a long report or contract can be read and summarized like any smaller file.
FixedCalendar sync problems are visible from your calendar. When a connected calendar stops syncing, Today now shows a banner explaining it, with a button that opens calendar settings so you can reconnect the account. It could previously go unseen, so a stalled calendar looked like a calendar with nothing in it.
FixedThe Timeline tab renders in the right theme. Opening the Timeline tab on an older meeting no longer renders parts of it in light mode when you are using dark mode.
FixedItem table columns stay aligned when a field is empty. In a table of items, a row that leaves an optional field empty no longer shifts every later column one place to the left. Columns now hold their position whether or not each row fills them, so a list with patchy fields reads straight down.
FixedCopying a link from a preview copies that document. Opening a document in the preview overlay, from a kanban card, a task list, or a type's entries, and pressing Cmd+Shift+C on macOS or Ctrl+Shift+C on Windows and Linux now copies a link to that document. It used to copy a link to whichever page was behind the preview, which meant quietly sharing the wrong thing.
FixedReschedules reach Tana even when the organizer is outside your team. When a meeting is organized by someone whose mailbox is not connected to Tana, an external partner or a teammate who never connected a calendar, a change to its title or time made in Google or Outlook now reaches Tana. Those meetings could previously keep showing the time they had when they first arrived. Existing meetings correct themselves on their next sync.
FixedTask proposals show their state and assignee. Ask the AI to create a task and the proposal did not show who it was assigned to or whether it was open, even though both were already set, so reviewing one meant accepting it and then opening the result to check. The state control and assignee row appear on the proposal itself now.
FixedNo flash of the pre-meeting view when you join. Joining a meeting directly briefly showed the pre-meeting view before the call appeared. Joining now goes straight to the meeting.
FixedScreen-share thumbnails stay inside their rows. Screen-share thumbnails in the digest could overlap the row above them. They now stay within their own row.
