Design Engineer

The gist: We’re building the next-gen all-in-one workspace, designed from the ground up for AI. We’re looking for a Design Engineer who can help define and deliver core product experiences at Tana. You’ll play a key role in shaping how our product works and feels, and in doing so, help shape the future of knowledge work.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll shape the user experience from scratch. From messy early ideas to polished interfaces, you’ll design intuitive solutions that help make Tana feel effortless, and then help bring them to life in code.
You’ll explore and design the future of an AI-powered knowledge graph. This is frontier work, shaping how intelligent systems can augment thinking, collaboration, and knowledge at scale.
You’ll own your work from first sketch to real-world usage. You’ll lead projects end-to-end. This includes defining the problem, shaping the concept, designing flows, and delivering elegant, high-impact improvements to Tana. You’ll often take on the role of product owner, working closely with design, engineering, and leadership to drive projects forward.
You’ll lead and collaborate across disciplines. Whether driving a solo project or leading a small team, you’ll coordinate across product, design, and engineering to make ideas real.
You’ll ship to a passionate, fast-growing community. Your work will reach a global audience of people who care deeply about how they work, and who expect the best from the tools they use.
Skills
- You have strong product and UX instincts, and care deeply about crafting intuitive, elegant solutions.
- You think in systems and flows, not just screens, and you are able to shape end-to-end experiences that feel cohesive and intentional.
- You have paid close attention to the rise of AI, and you are looking for ways to leverage them to improve the way you work.
- You’re confident taking ideas from concept to implementation, with the ability to lead project teams.
- You have solid frontend development skills, and can prototype and contribute to building what you design.
- You’re energized by ambiguity and take initiative to shape product direction as well as implementation details.
- You actively seek user feedback and are able to translate insights into impactful product improvements.

This is a full-time position, and we are looking for candidates who can work from Oslo, or are in CET ± 3 hours and willing to regularly travel to work with the product team in Oslo.
