Set up Tana for your AI agent

Paste one line into your AI. Claude Code, Codex and Cursor connect themselves to Tana; in Claude and ChatGPT it hands you the shortest path to Connect. Or follow the steps for your app below.

Claude (desktop app or claude.ai)

Add the Tana plugin. It brings the Tana connector and Tana's skills for meetings (prep, recaps, prior art).

  1. Open Customize, then Plugins, then Discover. Search for "Tana" and press Add.
  2. Open the Tana plugin, go to its Connectors tab and press Connect next to Tana. Sign in to Tana in the window that opens.

Already connected Tana as a connector? Add the plugin anyway: the connector alone has no skills. If Tana then shows up twice under Customize, then Connectors, remove the one the plugin did not add.

No Plugins page, or no Tana under Discover? Connect only the connector: Customize, then Connectors, search for "Tana" and press Connect. Not listed there either? Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, then paste https://home.tana.inc/mcp and press Connect.

ChatGPT

Search for "Tana" in ChatGPT's apps and press Connect, then sign in to Tana. Not listed yet? Settings, then Connectors, then Developer mode, then add https://home.tana.inc/mcp.

Coding agents

Claude Code

Paste the one-line prompt and the agent runs the install itself:

If plugins are unavailable, it runs this instead:

claude mcp add tana --transport http https://home.tana.inc/mcp

Then run /mcp, choose the Tana server and pick Authenticate; the browser opens Tana's sign-in.

Codex

Codex asks you to sign in to Tana on first use.

Cursor

Any other MCP client

Add a streamable-HTTP MCP server named tana with URL https://home.tana.inc/mcp. No API key; the client completes OAuth in the browser.

What this connects

Reading: your Tana meetings (transcripts, screen-share screenshots, attendees, attached docs), documents, tasks and calendar. Writing: every change becomes a proposal you approve inside Tana; nothing is changed silently. Details: Use Tana with Claude.
