Accounting principles
A favor is booked the moment someone says "I'll owe you one" in a meeting. Debts accrue no interest but do accrue commentary. Repayment must be witnessed by at least one other attendee to clear the books.
Debts outstanding
- Theo owes Mia one code review, promised in exchange for her covering his demo slot (Jun 14, now 23 days, the auditors are concerned)
- Dana owes Sam a coffee for taking the 7am call with the school district in Jakarta
- Lin owes Theo first pick of conference swag after he untangled her release branch on a Friday
- Sam owes Dana one no-questions-asked meeting cancellation, redeemable any Friday
- Noah owes Lin a favor of unspecified size, which Lin says is exactly how she likes them
Settled this week
- Mia repaid Noah with pastries for the standup he ran while she was at the dentist, both parties satisfied
- Sam and Theo agreed their mutual debts cancel out, pending a recount
Auditor's note
Theo's code-review debt to Mia is now old enough to have its own onboarding streak. The ledger recommends settlement before it appears in the quarterly review as a going concern.
