A Metric / KPI captures a single quantitative measure discussed in a meeting - its current value, how it is trending, and the commentary that explains the number. Unlike an Action item (which asks someone to do something) or a Decision (which records a choice that was made), this outcome is a snapshot of a measurement, meant to be tracked and compared over time rather than closed out.
